These are brilliant. A whole lot of fun, with a lot of learning along the way, if that is what you choose. How interesting to learn about other peoples lives, hobbies, love life, shopping, pets, holidays etc. You can laugh, cry and enjoy.
Purpose in the library??? advertising services offered, documenting events, virtual tour of the library - excellent!

Wikis
I was amazed at how anyone can contribute or edit anything on Wikipedia. Gee we can only hope that if any "false" information is recorded that it will be picked up very quickly, eg: medical, law information. It is an excellent starting point however, to help a student etc get the basic information, then go to more reliable sources within the library.
Very interesting and quite accessible for the "not so computer literate".
Just beware of the facts or lack of!!!

RSS - learning curve
Well another learning curve. Yes, once you know what you are doing, the penny drops etc, it is quite easy to understand. Until that penny though, frustration can mount to quite high grades!!??
RSS is a wonderful tool for keeping up to date with information - really whatever information you want and need. it really is great. I am a little worried about finding more sites to subscribe to as I am sure I could spend a huge chunk of the day keeping "informed". I will have to pick my sites wisely.
In reality for me though, I will still stick to my daily fix of emails. RSS is great but time wise etc, it is yet another avenue to technology, but not for me, well not daily anyway. When I am eventually retired - haha - Iwill really appreciate this technology. As long as I remember how to do them all.!!??

my absolute fave...
I have a little "Lucy Loiuse" whom I absolutely adore. After having larger breed dogs, nothing has given me more satisfaction in being able to give of myself than these beautiful little dogs. She makes me laugh and cry and gives me the most devoted love and attention. She gives me so much pleasure and I am devoted to her as she is to me. Her tenacity and boundless energy keeps me on my toes. She is terribly spoilt and I am so very glad she came into my life. I AM HOOKED!

Oh Boy - Here we go!
Well you are always learning something new when working in a library environment. This can be quite exciting and daunting at the same time. It is a MUST though to keep up with the times, as they say, as that is what our job is all about. So here goes...my first Blog...
I have worked in Public Libraries all my working life. I have had a ball and made so many great friends along the way. My first job was with Mosman Council, then Warringah Council, then Pittwater, Hornsby and now with the beautiful Wingecarribbe Shire Council in the Southern Highlands. This place is paradise. Our borrowers are absolutely wonderful (well most of them anyway) and the staff have become like family. I love the climate, flora and fauna, the landscape and the friendliness this place has to offer. Halfway between Sydney and Canberra - how perfect.
I wonder if anyone else "out there" loves the area they live or work in as much as I do?
